Today in this Hornetsecurity 365 Threat Monitor App review, I’d like to talk about a new product. Hornetsecurity’s 365 Threat Monitor detects and allows you to instantly delete email threats, such as ransomware, phishing, and spam, that breach your Microsoft 365 security and enter your user’s inboxes.
Before we go to the product review, who is Hornetsecurity?
Hornetsecurity is a cloud security specialist headquartered in Germany that operates in more than 30 countries. Sold through Hornetsecurity’s international channel partner network, its premium services are used by more than 40,000 customers, including Swisscom, Telefónica, and KONICA MINOLTA. Hornetsecurity is rapidly growing in a dynamic market, acquiring Spamina, the Spanish market leader for cloud email security solutions, in January 2019 and EveryCloud, its British market partner, at the beginning of 2020.
Hornetsecurity recently acquired the backup solutions company Altaro, becoming a complete cloud security solution with this acquisition. The two companies can provide a comprehensive security solution from Hypervisor backups to Microsoft 365 environment security and compliance by synergizing.
How to use the 365 Threat Monitor App?
365 Threat Monitor is a free application for your mobile through which you can protect and monitor your Microsoft 365 email accounts.
First, download the App from HERE.
Then use your phone to scan the code and download the App. You can also download directly from the Apple Store or Google Store by searching for “365 Threat Monitor”.
After installing the App on your mobile (or tablet), register using your Microsoft 365 email account.
Note: You need to have admin permissions on your Microsoft 365 account to permit 365 Threat Monitor to monitor yours and your users’ email accounts. If you are not an administrator, please select the link shown in the setting and send it to your administrator to add permission for your account.
Next give permission to 365 Threat Monitor in your Microsoft 365 account.
After 365 Threat Monitor is configured, it is now monitoring yours and your users’ Microsoft 365 email accounts for any security threats.
The services that the App will provide.
As we can see, it is straightforward to install and configure. When all is set, you will then receive a confirmation email in your inbox.
An email example:
Now that you have our 365 Threat Monitor App installed, you can now monitor what is happening in yours and your users’ email accounts. You will only have warnings if a threat is detected. If not, 365 Threat Monitor doesn’t bother you).
What do you see in your 365 Threat Monitor App?
There are four screens in the app: Statistics, Alerts, Top Targets, and Settings.
All the information about any detected threats will be in the above sections. As shown in the last screen(4), this is an admin account, and the 365 Threat Monitor is connected to all the users in that domain. In this case, there are 3 users.
Note: In my example, push notifications are disabled, but in production, you should have this enabled so that you can receive immediate notifications when any threat is detected for you or your users.
Next is an example of the statistics for threats detected by 365 Threat Monitor in the last 30 days.
As we can see above, this is an excellent tool to monitor your Microsoft 365 accounts and it is completely free.
Main features of 365 Threat Monitor:
- Identifies malicious emails that slip through your current email security.
- Sends you a real-time phone alert so you can instantly delete threats with just one click on your phone, and prevent any damage.
- Gives you full control over users’ email security, even remotely.
Final thoughts
What can you get with the 365 Threat Monitor App? Protection against malware (ransomware, viruses, spyware, etc.), email phishing, and spam from unwanted advertisements.
To make sure that your Microsoft 365 email account is protected, 365 Threat Monitor will do email Live Tracking and Forensic Analyses every time you receive any email using real-time email scanning.
In my opinion, this is an excellent tool for free with many services that monitor and protect your Microsoft 365 email accounts.
As I said, this is for an individual tenant, but if you need to have an Enterprise solution for all of your Microsoft 365 domains, you should upgrade the tool to have Enterprise options.
