NAKIVO Backup & Replication v9.1 released

A couple of weeks ago (specifically on the 20th of January), NAKIVO released its version for its main product NAKIVO Backup & Replication v9.1.

In this new v9.1,  NAKIVO added some new features or devices to support. But also many improvements.

What is new NAKIVO Backup & Replication v9.1 released?

The main features added to this new version are:

  • Native Tape Support

NAKIVO v9.1 introduced backup to tape, and that provides native tape support for automated tape libraries, including virtual tape libraries (VTL), as well as standalone tape drives.

The product allows managing your tape environment and automating the backup to tape process to provide long-term retention of data.

NAKIVO Backup & Replication supports backups of the following platforms:

    • VMware
    • Hyper-V,
    • Nutanix AHV
    • Amazon AWS EC2
    • Physical servers.

Using the platforms as a source, backups can then be sent to physical tape libraries or VTL for storing/archiving.

  • Linux Physical Machine Support

Linux physical machines are now supported by NAKIVO Backup & Replication. With the new feature is not possible to perform an incremental, app-aware backup of Linux machines to achieve higher backup performance, protect your data, and perform instant recovery of files and objects.

Customers can instantly recover files, folders, and application objects directly from compressed and deduplicated backups.
Also, with this new Linux support is possible to restore physical Linux Server machines to VMware and Hyper-V VMs. This is very suitable for some P2V and server migration.

  • Physical Workstation Backup

NAKIVO Backup & Replication v9.1 can now back up physical Windows workstations. Backups are incremental and can be automatically compressed and deduplicated.
Customers can instantly recover files and folders from workstation backups in addition to restoring workstations to VMware and Hyper-V VMs.

Is now possible to have all your workstation infrastructure restored in your Virtual Infrastructure (VMware or Hyper-V).

  • Instant Verification

NAKIVO Backup & Replication 9.1 boasts of an updated version of backup and replica verification. The Instant Verification feature can instantly recover a VM from its backup or boot a VM replica with networking turned off and then check the OS heartbeat via VMware Tools or Hyper-V Integration Services. With the instant verification feature, customers can ensure that their backups and replicas can be successfully recovered.

Improvements added to the new version.

  • Boot verification of VMware and Microsoft Hyper-V backups and replicas.
  • Additional Transporter load can be assigned for recovery jobs.
  • Transporter can be assigned to a specific host in a cluster.
  • Standalone replica failback jobs.
