Veeam launched Microsoft Office 365 v5 with Microsoft Teams support

Some days ago, Veeam launched Microsoft Office 365 v5 with Microsoft Teams support, specifically on 3th of December. Veeam has been launching some patches and updates for their products in the last weeks. This Microsoft Office 365 v5 is one more.

What is new

This new version 5 has one main feature that is the support for Microsoft Teams. In these Home-office days, where more and more companies use Microsoft Teams for their online meetings, group chats, and file sharing, this is an important option to backup your Microsoft Teams environment.

Backup  Microsoft Office 365 is an area that has been grown in the last couple of years and still space to grow, and many customers should and will use it.

Veeam launched Microsoft Office 365 v5 with Microsoft Teams support

Previous Veeam Microsoft Office 365 was supported for Microsoft Teams, including in the Share Point backup, but you did not have the option to backup in detail, or the restore was not granular as we like to be.

With Veeam Microsoft Office 365 v5, we can backup Teams settings, all channels, permissions, and files stored in those channels.

This version is also now possible to search your Microsoft Teams backup to find objects you want to restore. Search will find any file or object in any channel or chat that was backup.  Great improvements here by Veeam for the restore and how to handle the restores for Microsoft Teams backup.

“In addition to flexible data recover and export options, Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Teams provides unmatched eDiscovery, allowing for granular search across Teams components for seamless governance and compliance.”

Scalability and Performance

With new architectural enhancements can now deliver 5x the scale to support the largest enterprises Microsoft Office 365 implementation, with the ability to browse simultaneously 100,000 objects.

The new architectural improvements are included faster data movement to object storage and the possibility to deploy 5 times more Veeam Proxies, up to 50 per server,  for better Performance and Scalability.

2X faster backup data migration to object storage from local repositories

Thousands of backup repositories, OneDrive accounts, and Exchange items are represented within seconds with the optimized RESTful API calls.

In this new version is also included:

  • Enhanced backup job scheduling allows you to define the permitted time window for the job and the offset to specify the exact time when the job must start.
  • Collecting and exporting Veeam Explorers log files becomes easier through using the Support Information wizard in the Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 console.
