Which Path Should you Apply for?
Evangelist Path
The Evangelist Path includes book authors, bloggers, tool builders, public speakers, VMTN contributors, and other IT professionals who share their knowledge and passion with others with the leverage of a personal public platform to reach many people. Employees of VMware can also apply via the Evangelist path. A VMware employee reference is recommended if your activities weren’t all in public.
Customer Path
The Customer Path is for leaders who evangelize VMware. We are looking for passionate customers who do the work to evangelize within their organization or worked with VMware to build success stories, act as customer references, given public interviews, spoken at conferences, or were VMUG leaders. The actives must not be related to your position within the company, i.e. not being paid for evangelizing VMware. A VMware employee reference is recommended if your activities weren’t all in public.
Partner Path
The VPN Path is for employees of our partner companies who lead with passion and by example, who are committed to continuous learning through accreditations and certifications and to making their technical knowledge and expertise available to many. This can take shape of event participation, video, IP generation, as well as public speaking engagements.
VMUG & VCDX
If you are an active VMUG Leader or hold the title of VCDX you will qualify for the vExpert award. VMUG leaders are verified through the VCDX directory. VMUG leader titles and activities are also verified and you must be an active leader in your chapter. Inactive VMUG leaders will not qualify for the award. To apply via VMUG or VCDX, please use the evangelist path and state you are a VCDX or VMUG leader and which chapter. All VCDX applicants will be verified via vcdx.vmware.com.

My vExpert history
Let me share just a few words about my history with the vExpert program.
I apply to this program for the first time in 2016. Even I was a blogger already for some years, I never applied for this program, and then I decided to apply. Today I say that I should have done it sooner.
After I apply to vExpert program my professional life did change, not in my job since I still work in the same company, but I was recognized in the company as an expert with VMware (of course my daily job need to prove that) and receive excellent feedback and congratulations from the company regarding this award.
The best part, I meet a lot of people since then, some of them I call them friends today, and great VMware experts. learn a lot in the last 4/5 years that I am in this program. Not only with all the vExperts but also in program writing and sharing a lot of good technical content.
I had great encounters and parties with all the vExperts, great technical talks and I was in the VMworld for the first only after I was vExpert with blog pass. I went to so many events since I apply for vExpert, even apply for a different program Veeam Vanguard, and I am Veeam Vanguard since 2018.
Since 2016 that I am vExpert, meanwhile, I was award also with vExpert vSAN and plan to apply for vExpert NSX in the next opening.
Since I apply to vExpert, my blog has more than 150k visitors a year and have been contacted by so many people by email, private messages, Twitter, and Slack regarding about content I write.
It was a great decision to be part of this problem program, today, I know I have recognition from my peers in vCommunity as a technician that works with VMware products and other areas.
All of this, I am pretty sure, would not happen if I didn’t decide to be part of the vExpert program.
So again, if you did not decide yet to apply, please apply you will not regret and if you did not manage in the first application, do not give up, continue to work, and apply again in the next opening.
